…Says Tinubu has no Rival in Southwest

Traditional title holders in Ibadan, under the aegis of the Noble Chiefs Forum, have declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term bid, insisting that the President should be allowed to complete an eight-year tenure in office.

In a statement issued by the group in Ibadan on Friday, the chiefs said it would be unfair for President Tinubu not to complete two terms in office, recalling that former President Muhammadu Buhari was allowed to serve out his constitutionally recognised eight years.

The Forum maintained that Tinubu, being a Yoruba man, deserves the same opportunity to complete his tenure without discrimination or political hostility.

According to the statement, “President Bola Tinubu should not be treated as an exception in the nation’s democratic history. Former President Muhammadu Buhari completed his eight-year tenure and the same constitutional privilege should be accorded to President Tinubu.”

The chiefs noted that the current administration has brought relief to many sectors of the economy despite prevailing challenges, adding that several state governors are now able to execute meaningful projects due to increased federal allocations.

“The present administration has increased allocations to governors, thereby enabling many state governments to embark on infrastructural and socio-economic projects that directly benefit the people,” the statement read.

The Forum further stated that many governors can now conveniently pay the new minimum wage to workers in their respective states without unnecessary difficulties, attributing the development to reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.

“Today, many governors can pay workers’ salaries and the new minimum wage without hassles. This is largely due to the financial reforms and policies introduced by President Tinubu,” the group stated.

The traditional title holders also commended the President for facilitating infrastructural growth and socio-economic development across the country, saying his administration has shown commitment to national progress.

The group added that any reasonable Yoruba person should support Tinubu’s re-emergence in the interest of fairness, regional unity and continuity in governance.

“No reasonable Yoruba person should work against the re-emergence of President Bola Tinubu. It is only fair and just that he is allowed to complete his constitutionally recognised eight-year tenure,” the statement added.

They reiterated that the Forum would not support any other presidential candidate apart from Tinubu in the next general election.

“We have resolved collectively that the Noble Chiefs Forum will support no other candidate than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.“

“We believe he should be given the opportunity to complete his eight-year tenure for the stability, fairness and continuity of governance in Nigeria,” the statement stated.

The group urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms and developmental programmes would yield greater benefits for the country in the coming years.
