Oyo 2027: Oloko Commends Jubril Dotun Sanusi for Standing Firm on Muslim Governor Advocacy

A prominent Ibadan Mogaji, Alhaji Abass Oloko, has praised the Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS), for what he described as his courageous and principled stand on fairness, justice and the sanctity of agreements in Oyo State politics.

Oloko gave the commendation while reacting to the recent advocacy visit led by Chief Sanusi and several Muslim organisations, including NASFAT, NACOMYO, FOMWAN and other Islamic groups, to the residence of the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and Grand Imam of Oyo State, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Abubakry Agbotomokekere.

The delegation had called for the emergence of a Muslim governor in Oyo State in 2027, insisting that political stakeholders should honour the understanding reached ahead of the 2023 governorship election.

Speaking on the development, Oloko described Chief Sanusi as a man of integrity who has consistently demonstrated commitment to truth, equity and peaceful coexistence.

According to him, standing firmly on what is right, despite pressures and differing opinions, is a rare quality in contemporary politics.

“Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi has shown exemplary courage and sincerity by reminding political leaders and stakeholders of the need to honour agreements. A society can only progress when promises are kept and justice is upheld,” Oloko said.

He added that the advocacy was not borne out of division or religious sentiment, but rather from the desire to sustain trust, fairness and mutual respect among all groups in the state.

Oloko further noted that history would remember and favour individuals who choose the path of honesty and principle over personal interest.

“Posterity will surely be kind to JDS for standing on the side of truth and fairness. Leaders who defend justice and uphold agreements contribute greatly to peace and stability in society,” he stated.

The Ibadan Mogaji also urged political actors in Oyo State to prioritise unity, equity and honour in their dealings ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

He maintained that respecting agreements and ensuring inclusiveness would further strengthen harmony and democratic values across the state.
